Washington D.C.

Revive historical glamor with a modern approach

Sitting on Pennsylvania Avenue between The White House and the U.S. Capitol near National Mall museums, the Washington Monument, and Lincoln Memorial, Waldorf Astoria has reimagined and renovated this grandiose building which once was Washington's old post office into a modern masterpiece that restores the glamor of the past while shining a new light onto the present era.

The Modern Renaissance:
a new interpretation of the classical beauty

The Washington's old post office was once the city's most important buildings as it is located between Capital Hill and the White House. The hotel looks like a castle rising on Pennsylvania Avenue, taking up what seems like an entire block on one of the world's most powerful corridors. The grand building is an epitome of the aesthetics, rich history and culture of Washington D.C. Walking into this glamorous building is like reading a history book, visiting a museum or a historical monuments, basically everything that you came Washington D.C. for. Every corner of the building is filled with the charm of the classics with the original details like solid wood doors, wainscoting and intricate molding as well as the new elegant additions such as the oversized chandeliers, the ocean-blue hues in the guestrooms and velvet couches, giving it a contemporary style while appreciating the beauty of the original.

The construction of the building began in 1892 for this Romanesque Revival-style structure as a grand headquarter for the U.S. Post Office Department (back before email and DMs and texts, when the mail was the only game in town). The castle-like building came dangerously close to demolition several times, but lived on thanks to architecture preservationists. The renovation keeps the essential design of the previous owners, giving the atmosphere a luxurious and classical style. The guest rooms stand apart from others in its spaciousness and high ceilings. The decor, designed by prior ownership, is classically opulent, with blue and white drapery, sparkling chandeliers, upholstered furniture, and marble-covered bathrooms. Wide hallways, oversized windows and exquisite gold trimmings gives extra glamor and modern lavishness to the sight, making an exquisite and unforgettable stay.
